About World Heritage Travel

Photo of AlexanderWHO AM I?
I'm a Danish guy, educated Engineer in Biotechnology with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry. I've lived and worked three years in Tokyo, Japan in the period 2014-2017, afterwhich I moved to Vancouver, Canada. I try to live a somewhat healthy life and likes being active, as a I completed an Ironman in 2013 in sub 10 hours.
Coming from Denmark, a country without rivers and where the highest point above sea level is at 170m, I've always been fascinated about the mysterious nature and mountains only found in foreign countries. In 2012, I lived in Japan for a couple of months and moved to work there in 2014. Japan is rich in Cultural and Natural World Heritage, and my first stay there grew my interest in historical architecture and culture of different societies. I traveled to a number of World Heritage Sites and realized just how magnificent these sites are and since started to organize my travel trips around the World Heritage Sites.
When I go somewhere new, I always search the internet to get the best possible start on how to get there, what to see and what to do. In my search for World Heritage Sites travel information, I realized that while there are countless of travel blogs out there, which might cover some sites, there are almost no blogs with a dedicated focus on UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There is of course a great description about the site on the UNESCO list, but it does not include actual travel plans on how to get there, what to see, what to do, and what to experience nearby.
The UNESCO World Heritage list currently inscribes just more than 1,000 properties - Making the list my version of the famous "1,000 Places to see before you die". Firstly is an overview map of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites that I've visited - You can click on each entry in the map to go to my report of the trip (still in the progress of writing the reports).
